Location: proximity to Sovereign Hill is excellent. Room 6: our initial room and bed-lamps for both beds. Room 6 to 5: staff provided assistance moving to another room that had a working tv + given a bottle of wine for the inconvenience of having to relocate to another room. Room 5: room we transferred to had 2 separate bedrooms which was an upgrade for us. Décor: old world feel created with dark furniture and warm lighting which created a welcoming ambience. Bathroom: low level light over vanity is welcomed, as most lights are blinding during the night + mirror height positioned to be suitable for tall and short people. Carport: Great to have the car under cover especially in winter. On site restaurant: Azzuri is excellent. Great food. Great ambience with wood fire going. I would definitely stay here again. We were there in winter so didn’t use the pool or gym. Very quiet. Great to have the car under cover and not have to scrape ice off in the morning.

A really charming and picturesque spot with unique features, especially the beautifully kept grounds. Stunning views all round to enjoy such as the adjoining lake with lit up fountain at night. Lots of options for lounging inside or outside, with themed decor, including a Christmas wonderland and a meet and greet with Santa. Hospitality staff went above and beyond to cater to any dietary requirements. Lodge room was cosy with a rustic charm and good value for money. The location was closer to Sovereign Hill than Ballarat Town Centre but a bus to Ballarat Station runs just outside the Hotel. Out of all the Mercure's we've stayed at, this one was particularly unique.

The room was nice, with a very large and comfy bed. However the spa bath jets did not work and the tile grout in the bathroom is stained. It needs bleaching to remove what looks like brown mud stains around the bottom of the bath. The breakfast was also disappointing. It should include a barrista made coffee. The bread did not fit in the toaster properly and was hard to get back out. The scrambled eggs were good but the hash browns looked like they had been cooked in very old deep frying oil and were very dark and tasted bad. The steak we had the night before was cooked well and delicious. But salad should be included not an extra for $48.

Whilst only at the Mercure overnight, I received exceptional service. I arrived quite late in the evening after a long drive and the staff member at reception was quick to ask if I had eaten dinner and when I responded no, he let me know that I could order from the restaurant and that he would deliver my order to the room so I could get settled. The room was clean and perfect for my needs and I appreciated the small details that were on offer (toiletries, hair dryer, coffee making facilities etc).

Great place, great location, when we arrived staff were friendly, our room was clean but had toothpaste on front of vanity, cobwebs, bins weren't emptied during our stay, and table wasn't wiped over, saying this it was a very nice place to stay, gardens were absolutely beautiful ( could do with some seating through the garden to sit and enjoy) staff in restaurant were very friendly and accommodating, we will definitely love to stay again as overall great experience.
